Scaffolds of Abacarite

When anyone, with any real knowledge, speaks of the Scaffolds of Abacarite (or simply, the Scaffolds), they may be referring to any one of several, mostly concentric, locations.

The most general usage of the name comes from the mass of portals (mostly unknown) extending in a diminishing effect out to 400 lightyears from the Sol System (0,0,0), and arising from the interdimensional fracturing by the Event, called by many names, of 2509.

The portals and associated spatial warping is much more concentrated in the Sol System and the roughly 2-lightyear radius volume surrounding it. The Scaffolds is often taken to mean this concentration of portals and effects. In Guild Space, this is a region that is highly restricted by the Golem of Neolod to all but the most trusted emissaries.

Many consider the region within the orbit of the main asteroid belt of the Sol System to be the Scaffolds. Almost no-one from Guild Space is allowed within this area.

Most of those within Guild Space, however believe that Scaffolds is the region most fractured by the event, located around Leviathan, or the City of Sydney in ancient times, on Earth. Earth is strictly off-limits in Guild Space.

The designation Scaffolds, is complicated by the interdimensional reach of the event of 2509, which gives a logic to the name. This is because The Scaffolds of Abacarite is named by the Xanji, in Jerrimoo Space, after the town of Abacarite, which lay between the three cities of Eporrynchus, Geopooreenus and Quatzeletamaine on Jerrimoo's World (the Xanji term for Earth).

The name Abacarite became better known during the Rift Wars, first within the Rimward Rebellion, then in the Monarchrate. This was due to the fact that Peak Sect, Geopooreen and Eporrhynchine strikers issued from the portals.
