Valkeron

The Valkeronian Confederacy lies south rim tailward of the Guild Datum, some 327ly south of the galactic plane, and is centred on the Valkeron Open Cluster. The Confederacy began as a leap-colony of the Duke of Beaufort in 2745. Although the colony was under the name of House Valker (also giving its name to the eventual political unit), the initiative was greatly facilitated by the Shipwright's Guild, and current evidence suggests that the Helgar Neti were likely the driving force.

By 2800, the centre of gravity of House Valker had shifted. The then Duke of Valker resided in Valkeron, and the Monarchrate worlds in the mid-range Puppis Constellation, and was then nominally the actual seat of the Duke of Valker, was defacto relegated to being the regent's remaining purchase on the so-called inner-worlds.

This shift, heralded the gradual succession of Valkeron from the Monarchrate, although the actual event did not come to pass until the Betrayal of Valkeron six years into the Rift Wars (3116), when Valkeron became another arm of the Rebellion.

At this point in history Valkeron was, in some respects, similar to the Islamic centre of gravity of the rimward Rebellion that would later become the Empire of Almuqasa, though Valkeron trod a very different path over the centuries following the Rift Wars, shaping the Valkeronian polity in ways that were both a departure from the course of Almuqasa, and in some ways, similar to it.
