Traits

The unit item in Strikermechanica. A character (creature or artefact) is a collection of traits.

Functional Traits

Ambidexterity

Biological creatures have a biomechanical orientation called left-handedness and right-handedness in humans. As a result, aiming and firing a weapon in your off-hand (your left hand, if you are right-handed) would be an attack at disadvantage. With ambidexterity, you are both left and right- handed, and will suffer no disadvantage regardless of which hand you put the tool requiring the co-ordination.

Die hard

With the die hard trait, when you are reduced to 0 health points but not killed outright, you drop to 1 health point instead.

Hardiness

You just seem to survive stuff that you ordinarily shouldn't. You have advantage on all Health saves.

Multilimbed

Multilimbed creatures have an extra pair of appendages that work like a second pair of hands. As a result of this, many actions that require the use of appendages, whether direct by the body, or though an item of equipment, can be done a second time, on your turn. Therefore, if you would normally perform one action with a full-action, then in some cases, you can perform a second action. A common example of this is firing a weapon, which can normally done once with a full-action, but with the multilimbed trait, you can do this twice.

Nimbleness

Nimbleness allows you to move through other character’s squares during combat without those squares being considered difficult terrain (and halving your speed).

Nimbleness

Move through squares of other characters at stock speed

Omnifacing

Having the Omnifacing trait means that you do not have a particular direction in which you face. Humans face forward and if they wish to engage another creature that is behind them, they have to turn around. Omnifacing creatures cannot be flanked.

Omnifacing

imm(cond,flanked)

Pack instincts

Pack instincts awards you with advantage in melee attack rolls against a creature that is within reach of at least one of your allies. Your allies must be able to perform an attack action on that creature (that is, they cannot be incapacitated).

Pack instincts

adv(chk,target,melee) when ally within 2(range) of your target

Rage

Certain creatures just seem to have a reckless amount of rage in them when it comes to fighting. You often become beserk in battle. You can enter the beserk and enraged state as you enter into melee combat and maintain the rage for 1 minute with a loss of 1d4 ep at the end.

During the rage:

  • all skill rolls are reckless rolls;
  • your Str is enhanced (by the Rage number);
  • you have advantage on all strength based checks and saves; and
  • you gain 2 times your rage number in frc, prc and sls resistances.
Rage, 1ep

adv(Strength,chk|sv), 2(rst,frc), 2(rst,prc), 2(rst,sls) for 2 min

Squeezable

Having the Squeezable trait means that you are able to move through an area that is up to 3 size categories smaller than you. Normally you can only squeeze through area 1 size category smaller than you.

Squeezable
