Definition

The Cbt-Melee skill encompasses a knowledge and practice with hand-to-hand combat in all its various forms.

Assess (free-action, aspect-on, Investigate)

You can quickly assess whether a potential opponent has this kind of practice as well as a free action by making the check:

assess(free-action) chk(10) = d20 + R(Cbt-Melee) + M(Investigate)

Note that this does not tell you anything about their abilities, just whether or not they are practiced (have ranks on this forte).

Know (free-action, aspect-on, Investigate)

You can check whether you know basic features about a particular melee weapon with:

know(free-action) chk(10+rarity) = d20 + R(Cbt-Melee) + M(Investigate)

The DC can be adjusted up for rare weapons or subject to a tech provenance aspect, if the weapon is particular to a culture.

Switch (bonus-action)

As long as you have ranks in this skill, you can use a bonnus-action, rather than an act to perform the Switch action to change your weapon during combat.

Attack of Opportunity (re-action)

Any practiced fighter is looking for an opportunity to strike, whenever their opponent creates an opening. The two most common openings for opportunity attacks are:

  1. when an opponent leaves any square within your reach under their own volition; and
  2. when an opponent performs any action that is not a melee combat action, while within your reach (free, bonus and reactions are allowed). You can use your reaction for opportunity attacks as long as you have at least 1 rank in Cbt-Melee.

Feint (bonus-action, aspect-on:Deceive, 1ep)

Just before you make your attack, you can use your bonus action to impose

feint(bonus-action, 1fp) imp(sv,Insight) = 8+R(Cbt-Melee) + M(Deceive)

If your opponent fails this save, you may make your following attack with advantage.
