Properties

Category: Knowledge
Usage: gen(act) -> chk|sv= +Mknow(free-act) chk= +M
Aspect-Usage: provenance -> Tech + Tech-Anc with first ranks
Enabler: Society Description: Education in critical thinking and facts concerning history and anthropology from documentary and archaeological evidence.

Antiquities represents your understanding of historical places, events, cultures and conflicts.

Your sophont will have granted you a set of provenance aspects (Biochem-Water, Biology-Terran, Tech-Modern in the case of humans), and Tech-Modern is therefore how you would express the Tech provenance aspect for this skill. This will offer you modern history as your basic understanding of Antiquities.

One of the benefits of adding ranks to the Antiquities skill is that you are awarded the Tech-Anc counterpart to your Tech-Modern. For humans, this is Tech-Anc, but for ronites, for example, the Tech-Anc counterpart (to Tech-Ronite) is Tech-Anc-Ronite. You can then make use of this additional provenance aspect for all your other skills. Any other aspects can be gained at the discretion of your GM.

Enabler

Two of the knowledge skills, Antiquities and Science, are part of a rare type of skill called an enabler. These skills, apart from providing their own benefits, enable other skills, by allowing you to add half your enabler skill ranks to any roll made on the enabled skill.

Antiquities enables Society and all techniques derived from Society, your skill roll becomes:

Antiquities enabling Society
