An air vehicle is any vehicle capable of atmospheric flight, and using aerodynamics.
Prop Pack
The prop pack is an efficient personal flight vehicle, which is worn either as a backpack or as an accessory to an aegis suit or powered armour. Upon activation, the prop pack deploys a set of rotor blades. Their rotation provides the lift, and their tilt the direction.

Air Gradients
An air gradient is a gradient vehicle equipped with (usually two) horizontally aligned, ducted rotors to provide lift and additional propulsion. The rotors are located under the vehicle, containing six or eight-bladed propellors, and there is usually one at the front of the vehicle, and one at the back. These angle in various directions for steering. The areas of the vehicle around where the bonnet and the boot would be on a sedan car, are manifolds for air intakes, the gradient engine and battery, much of this is part of an active scaffold, so that the airframe and ducting can change its aerodynamics to suit conditions.
As they are principally a gradient vehicle, the rotors don’t need to work very hard to provide lift, and so there is far less lift-off turbulence, than you would expect in most vertical take-off systems.
Air gradients are quiet, easy to fly, and are designed principally for passenger comfort. They are generally not as fast as, or have the range of, dedicated aircraft.

Airplanes
Airplanes are a fixed wing air vehicle, using propellors or ducted fans, or in extremely advanced schemas, procession, for propulsion. Ramjet and scramjet propulsion is exceedingly rare, because of the very specific and expensive fuel needs. Airplanes provide high-speed and carrying capacity at a low cost.
Use of ducted fans, rather than propellors increases the cost by 20%, and increases speed by 50%.
Use of antimatter-magnetic propulsion, rather than propellors doubles the cost, and doubles the speed.

Gravplanes are fixed-wing gradient vehicles, similar to air cars, except that they use a full aerodynamic airframe and larger ducted fans, and gain significant speed as a result. Gravplanes are capable of supersonic speeds with a very low sonic boom.

Thopters
Thopters (short for ornithopter) use a four-bladed, vibrating wing system as their principal means of propulsion, although technically, they are a gradient vehicle as well. The wings are built of programmable adamantine alloy, which is extremely tough and flexible. Their simple construction with few moving parts, combined with an extremely effective propulsion, make them a robust choice for atmospheric flight, with extraordinary manoeuvrability. Thopters are built as service vehicles, and can generally take a lot of punishment, can fly in a very wide range of conditions, and over a great range. Although they use their four wings for propulsion, an ornithopter can still fly on just one.
Although thopters are sometimes used for personal transport, it is not common due to their wingspan (usually around 35 metres), which presents a space problem during takeoff and landing. The vibrating wings are also very loud.
