Apply a systematic approach to finding an item, fact or concept
This knowledge skill rates your ability to the search for clues and make effective deductions based on those clues. You might deduce the location of a hidden object, discern from the evidence at a crime scene important details about the criminal or their methods, determine where in a building someone might logically hide an item, pour through data to find a pattern or some hidden fragment of knowledge.
The usage of this skill differs from that of Perception. Investigate is about being methodical, doing the work to find something or assemble a picture from clues.
The usage of this skill also differs from that of Insight, which is the intuition you can apply after you have already found something. Insight is more of an educated guess or gut instinct about the significance or consequence of finding a particular item.
