Focus

Properties

Actions: gen(main-action) chk|sv +M(this), fp=FX•(1+M), fp/r=FX+M\

A trait skill that rates your ability to get and maintain your concentration or length of attention span.

Maximum Focus Points (fp,max)

Your Focus affects your maximum Focus points (fp,max), which are found by:

note

fp,max = FX • (1 + M(Focus))

That is, add 1 to your Focus modifier, and multiply the result by your FX.

Focus Point Recovery (fp/r)

Your Focus also affects the rate at which your Focus points recover after a rest (fp/r), which is found by:

note

fp/r = FX + M(Focus)

That is, add FX to your Focus modifier.

Dropping to 0 Focus Points (getting zeroed)

If you drop to 0 focus points, you are traumatised, or you fall unconscious. This is your zeroed state, and you may be zeroed and unconscious or zeroed and traumatised. The effect that zeroes your focus points determines which result applies.

Permanent Insanity

You will become permanently insane if you are zeroed, and the amount of focus damage remaining is equal to or greater than your focus point maximum. For example, if you are on 6 focus points and your maximum is 12, and you suffer 20 points of damage, then the first 6 of that damage will reduce you to 0 focus points, while the remaining 14, greater than your focus point maximum, will render you insane.

Note that permanent insanity will apply regardless of whether you are zeroed and unconscious or zeroed and traumatised.

Insanity Saves

If you are starting your turn zeroed, you must make an insanity save. A roll of 10 or better means that you succeed, otherwise you fail.

Keep track of your successes and failures. If you collect three successes you become unconscious, you do not need to make any more insanity saves. If you collect three failures, you are rendered insane.

Critical success and failure. If on your death save you roll a natural 20, you lapse into unconsciousness immediately. However, if you roll a 1 you instantly become insane.

Focus Damage while unconscious. If you suffer focus damage while zeroed, it counts as an insanity save failure, if you suffer critical focus damage while zeroed, it counts as two insanity save failures. If you suffer focus damage equal to your focus point maximum while zeroed, you will instantly become insane.
