Vital-Harm (Cbt-Melee, Cbt-Ranged, Cbt-Tactical, Medicine, Robotics)

Properties

Aspects: Bio|Tech
Skills: Cbt-Melee|Cbt-Ranged|Cbt-Tactical|Medicine|Robotics
Actions: vital-harm(auto-action, 1ep|fp) 1+⅕•M(chk,RSR+), eff= +M if target unaware of you

The Vital-Harm technique augments the base skill by affording you the vital-harm overlay on attacks where you have spent an energy point (Cbt-Melee or Cbt-Ranged) or a focus point (Medicine, Robotics or Cbt-Tactical).

The overlay allows you to attack with vicious accuracy, hitting your opponent where it hurts. In the context of melee battle, it may be knowing exactly where to stab your opponent for the greatest effect, or hit the right pressure point.

Normally, you need to roll a 20 on a d20 to get a result step (a result step range of 1). However, for every 5 points in modifier, you can add the next number down. Therefore at M=5, you may increase the step range to 19-20.

Or more generally:

vital-harm(auto-action, 1ep|fp) 1+⅕•M(chk,RSR+) & eff= +M*(this)

or

  • M = 5-9 RSR 19-20
  • M = 10-14 RSR 18-20
  • M = 15-19 RSR 17-20
  • M = 20+ RSR 16-20

If your target is unaware of you before you make your attack, or they are currently in combat with another of their opponents, or enthralled, you can add the modifier for Vital-Harm to the damage roll from your successful attack.

Aspects. The creature you are targeting must match your provenance aspects in order to make use of this skill.
