Possession (Telepathy)
Skills: Telepathy
Actions: where M* = M*(this), contact(round, 1fp) imp(sv,Insight|Resolve,8+M*) then stage 2 and 3.
This technique is a psychic assault on another creature with the aim of overcoming their will and gaining possession of their body.
It relies on you having ranks in Remote-Seeing, because, you must relinquish your own body to go possessing another’s. Even if you happen to be a disembodied spirit, you still require Remote-Seeing, although you may regard it a Corporeal-Seeing from your, rather astral (ethereal) perspective.
It also relies on you having ranks in Focus-Drain, because you will need to be able to use the mental resources of your victim to both break down their will, and replenish your fast- depleting stores of your own focus points.
The possession happens in stages.
Stage 1 (Contact). Here you spend 1(fp) and impose your choice of a Insight or Resolve save on your target. If they fail, you have made contact and may progress to stage 2.
Stage 2 (Assault). Here you use your Focus-Drain to attack your victim. You may need to do this several times, once the victim has their focus reduced to 0, you may progress to stage 3.
Stage 3 (Possession). You begin this stage now being able to operate as your victim. You have their memories up to the beginning of the stage. As soon as your victim recovers a focus point, they can mount challenges. Either may use the better of their Cha or Int in an ability check. In the form of a psychic grapple. If the victim wins this contest, then you are knocked back to stage 2, and must resume assaults to regain control.
Exorcism
The reverse of this fine-forte can be used to free a victim from their possessor. In this version, you do not need to relinquish your own body, although you cannot undertake other actions with your body. Stage 1 and Stage 2 are actions against the possessor, rather than the victim. If the possessor loses all of their focus points, then they are exorcised, and if they wanted to try to re-possess, they would need to recover the necessary focus points to initiate Stage 1 again.
